The Art of Stolen Moments and Broken Rules

Our lives are made up of a series of moments. So often, we find ourselves missing (too) many such moments, lost in the whirlwind of daily responsibilities or in the flurry within our minds as we try to keep up. On the surface, many of them may seem small or insignificant. But – each little moment leads to the next, and we stand to gain so much when we really take the time to be fully present and LIVE more often IN the moment!

What would you do if you could capture more of life’s moments? Do you think you’d notice more details? Would you laugh more?

What if we could break society’s unwritten rules, going against the grain and against the hustle & bustle of day-to-day life, focusing more often on what’s truly important?

Well, my inner-rebel is at it again. While the photos themselves aren’t what most would consider ‘clean-living-blog-material’ – they lend themselves to the idea of really embracing all of the little moments and experiences that we too often move blindly through on a daily basis. True to my nature, I’m breaking a few rules today, while embracing the opportunity to relive some stolen moments that are frozen in time to be cherished forever. You get a glimpse into my not-so-distant past (as a wedding photographer), as I share just a few spontaneous and fabulously fun moments stolen during my final hours of officially upholding the wedding photographer’s title. (I just now realized people paid me to steal their moments! Gotta love it.) I could not have asked for a better way to step out of this prior career choice, reveling in the joy right along with Lindsay & Ryan and their families.

I used to have a blog platform designated for sharing these sneak-peeks into the couples’ wedding days, to help stave off the anticipation while I completed the remainder of their images. Since I no longer uphold such a platform, I’m posting them here this week – in honor of artfully crafting stolen moments for fellow-sentimentalists who share in the belief that it’s the little things in life that add up the most. Additionally – it serves as a reminder to us all to really be present and live fully, in each moment – taking in the details of this amazing journey. It’s also an attempt to honor breaking the rules, stepping outside of tradition or of societal expectations – to live and celebrate life in a way that has authentic meaning for each of us. And finally, these are also shared here in honor of Lindsay & Rayn and their families – for sharing this spectacular day with me, and giving me the honor of capturing all of the little events that came about in the name of the ‘big event’.

The wedding day is memorable because it entails a series of exceptional moments. Let’s make sure to remember that EACH day is memorable for that very same reason. While the daily events may not always be as grand or as seemingly significant, each moment matters. Let’s strive to consistently embrace more of them, refusing to let them pass us by.

In the meantime, I hope everyone enjoys this sneak-peek into Lindsay & Ryan’s wedding day. I’m highlighting a few touching moments, and many more humorous ones; I’m big on candid captures and spontaneity! These are some of my faves – and I’m hoping Lindsay & Ryan will find that they feel the same way. There are MANY more where these came from – but for now – these are the selected highlights: ENJOY!

47This is hilarious! I have no idea whose ‘ass’ that is in the left hand side of my photo – but based on the stellar sense of humor of this couple – I know they will appreciate it! You couldn’t plan it if you tried! 🙂 Mwah!
